The New York Department of Transportation will show people five possible designs for a new bridge across Lake Champlain that will link Crown Point, New York and West Addison, Vermont.

The designs will be displayed Saturday at a series of meetings in Ticonderoga for people from the two states who are interested in the process being followed to replace the Lake Champlain Bridge, which was closed in October after it was found to be unsafe.

New York DOT spokeswoman Carol Breen says at least one of the designs will resemble the 80-year-old bridge that is set to be destroyed with explosives in the coming weeks.

Vermont Transportation Agency Spokesman John Zicconi says a committee with listen to public opinion before a new bridge design is chosen.
