Federal regulators say the Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant is operating safely.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a public meeting in Putney on Monday to discuss last year’s safety review.

NRC staff also will be available to answer questions about the plant’s performance and its role in overseeing the plant’s operation.

The safety assessment only found one instance where the plant did not meet safety standards.

A shipment from Vermont Yankee to a nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania had exceeded U.S. Department of Transportation radiation limits.

The NRC says no public radiation exposure occurred during the shipment.
