(Host) A Norwich University student has pleaded not guilty to charges he was driving drunk in a crash that killed another student and injured seven others, three critically.

Twenty-two-year-old Derek Seber was charged after the Sunday morning crash in Northfield.

The crash killed 18-year-old Renee Robbins of Kentwood, Michigan, a Norwich freshman.

Seber was expected to be released to the custody of his parents in Gaithersburg, Maryland, under conditions after posting ten-thousand dollars cash bail.

Seber’s lawyer says that his client will show up for court dates. The lawyer says Seber had no criminal background, attended West Point, and was in the top of his high school class.

But the prosecutor said Seber fled into the woods after the crash and tried to flee from the hospital.
