A former doctor at the Northwestern Medical Center in Saint Albans is suing the hospital and 6 other defendants for $40 million.

Doctor Ray Long, who now lives in Plattsburgh, New York , makes numerous allegations in his suit, including that someone at the hospital intentionally contaminated surgical fluids he was to use with potentially deadly bacteria.

The hospital has denied the allegations.

Vermont Attorney General William Sorrell says his office launched a criminal probe in 2004 based on some of Long’s allegations and found no evidence that anyone had committed a crime.
