Northern NY community college proposing wind energy degree

Students at Clinton County Community College in northern New York may soon be able to get a degree in wind energy.

The Plattsburgh-based school’s board of trustees recently approved a new wind energy degree as part of the school’s efforts to meet the needs of area wind companies. The degree would fall under the school’s applied science curriculum.

The degree program was largely inspired by Noble Environmental Power’s local wind parks in Clinton and Ellenburg.

SUNY officials still have to approve the degree before the community college can move forward.
