Ski areas across Northern England are declaring the just finished ski season the best they’ve had in years, perhaps ever.

In Maine, Sunday River and Sugarloaf saw a 21 percent increase in skier visits over the 2006-2007 ski season.

For those two resorts the record-breaking numbers were attributed to a strong season pass sales, a snowy winter, improved technology and the strength of the Canadian dollar.

The Okemo Mountain Resort in Ludlow, Vt., had its all-time best season. Okemo beat the previous season by about 25 percent and the previous all-time best by six percent.

At Mount Cranmore in North Conway, N.H., skier visits were up more than 30 percent over the previous season’s total and up 10 percent over its best year in the last five.
