Managers at International Paper’s northern New York mill say no job cuts are planned there.

The paper company recently announced it will eliminate as many as 1,500 salaried jobs by the end of next year. But Donna Wadsworth, a spokeswoman for the company’s mill in Ticonderoga, says no layoffs are planned there.

She says the Ticonderoga mill does have a hiring freeze in place for salaried workers, and some schedules were changed when managers there scaled back production. However, she says they’ll probably start hiring again sometime next year to replace some planned retirements.

The Ticonderoga mill employs 609 people.
