New Hampshire ski areas are going green this winter to save money and the environment.

Ski areas are working to expand recycling, improve energy efficiency, reduce waste and cut emissions. Bretton Woods ski operations director Chris Ellms said it’s good for the bottom line but also is good for the environment.

Loon, Bretton Woods and Cannon Mountain are sorting and hauling recyclables. Ellms said Bretton Woods takes its recyclables to Carroll County’s transfer station which gets income from the materials while the resort pays less for garbage.
