NH Senate voting on liquor changes

The New Hampshire Senate is scheduled to vote Wednesday on a sweeping bill to change the way the state Liquor Commission does business.

The bill would let the commission close poorly performing stores without legislative approval, sell liquor in grocery stores and have near-total control over its spending, among other changes.

State regulators have to approve most spending items under current law. The House Finance Committee has recommended a paired-down version of the bill as part of the state budget package.
