Candidates and political action groups have spent more than $11 million to run political ads on New Hampshire’s largest commercial television station this election season.

The biggest bucks are being spent on the U.S. Senate race. The National Republican Senate Committee has nearly $2.4 million in spots reserved on WMUR-TV to support Sen. John Sununu, while the national Democratic PAC has spent $2.2 million for ads backing former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen. That amounts to a combined 1,456 slots over the next seven weeks.

Shaheen herself has reserved $645,00 worth of air time so far, while Sununu has set aside $156,000. Neither John McCain nor Barack Obama have reserved air time beyond Sept. 22, but that is likely to change.
