NH Senate Approves Naming Road For McKay

The New Hampshire Senate has pass a bill naming a portion of Route 118 in Franconia after a police officer who was killed in the line of duty in 2007.

The bill, which now goes to the House, would rename a stretch of road in honor of Cpl. Bruce McKay, who was shot to death during a traffic stop. A passer-by then shot and killed the young man who killed McKay.

Republican Sen. Robert Letourneau of Derry was one of the bill’s sponsors. He told colleagues Wednesday that the state has a duty to honor someone who paid the ultimate sacrifice while enforcing the law.
