The executive director of the New Hampshire Retirement System is leaving in early December after less than eight months on the job, and she could take a hefty severance package with her.

Constance Donovan started the job in April and gave a 90-day notice last week that she’s quitting. Her contract gives her six months of severance pay, or up to $90,000.

Donovan is expected to attend a meeting of the joint legislative Fiscal Committee meeting this week to present an audited financial statement. Senator Ted Gatsas, a member of the committee, says he’s outraged at the pay package, especially given how much lawmakers struggle to pay retirees small cost-of-living benefit increases each year.
