NH poet laureate wants to connect with public

New Hampshire’s new poet laureate, Walter Butts, plans to work with independent bookstores and arts groups around the state to offer the public chances to connect with poets and poetry.

Walter Butts of Manchester was nominated by Governor John Lynch and was recently ratified by the Executive Council.

Butts succeeds Patricia Fargnoli of Walpole. He teaches at Hesser College’s Manchester campus and at a program at Goddard College in Plainfield,Vermont.

He’s published three books of poetry, "Sunday Evening at the Stardust Cafe," ”Movies in a Small Town" and "The Required Dance."
