New Hampshire Governor John Lynch has directed flags to fly at half-staff in honor of a soldier who was killed in Afghanistan.

Sergeant First Class Ryan Savard is being buried Tuesday at Arlington National Cemetery.

The 29-year-old Savard was originally from Jefferson, New Hampshire. He later moved to Arizona.

The Defense Department said Savard died October 13th, while on patrol during combat operations in Afghanistan. He died from small arms fire.

Savard was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the U-S Army Special Operations Command, at Fort Bragg.
