NH legislators take budget on the road

New Hampshire legislators are on the road for one more hearing on the proposed state budget.

Members of two House committees got an earful last week at hearings in Salem and Claremont from officials, residents and clients of various state services who said local taxes would rise and those needing services would be hurt by state budget cuts.

Finance Committee Chair Marjorie Smith says the hearings are a chance for lawmakers to hear from people who use state services, not just lobbyists or others who can make it to hearings in Concord.
