New Hampshire’s unemployment rate for December was 4.6 percent, up 1.2 percentage points from a year ago.
Nationally, the jobless rate hit 7.2 percent last month.
New Hampshire’s December 2008 rate was up 0.3 percentage points from the November 2008 rate of 4.3 percent, which was unchanged with revision.
The state says the number of unemployed residents increased by 2,020 over the month to 33,830. This was 8,540 more unemployed than in December 2007.
