A New Hampshire legislative commission is investigating whether a new classification of animal care worker might provide relief to sparse veterinary care in parts of the state.

The commission will meet next Monday at 10 a.m. at the North Country Resource Center in Lancaster to listen to public concerns about the availability, affordability and enhancement of animal care in the North Country.

The commission is studying whether the state should create a special classification of licensed animal care worker to help veterinarians. Currently, only veterinarians are licensed to provide animal medical care in New Hampshire.
