New Hampshire governors will continue to have to run for re-election every two years.
The House on Wednesday killed a plan to ask voters to amend the state Constitution to double the term to four years. It was approved in the Senate.
Supporters argued a four-year term would give governors more time to govern. They say governors are barely in office before they have to begin raising money for the next election.
Opponents said voters should continue to be able to judge a governor’s performance every two years.
