A small New Hampshire National Guard unit is being deployed to Afghanistan for a year.

The 16-member training team will act as mentors to the Afghan National Army and country’s police force.

They will be the sixth team of New Hampshire Army Guard soldiers to serve as mentors in the country since 2003. Currently, the Guard has about 50 soldiers and airmen deployed overseas with more than half in Afghanistan.

A deployment ceremony for the unit will be held Tuesday afternoon in Concord.
