New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch is remembering Sen. Edward Kennedy for his tireless work on civil rights, health care and education.

Lynch said Wednesday that Kennedy was a force in the U.S. Senate because he understood that he could hold firm to his principles and still reach across the aisle to find common ground. Lynch says Kennedy’s willingness to listen and compromise led to progress for all Americans.

Lynch and his wife, Susan, also expressed their deepest sympathies to the Kennedy family on the senator’s death Tuesday night.
