Many of New Hampshire’s community technical colleges are close to getting new names.

The Executive Council this week will consider replacing the names of seven of the colleges with more descriptive names instead of those that just refer to the cities where they’re located.

The campus in Laconia would become Lakes Region Community College and the Claremont school would become River Valley Community College. Other new names include White Mountains Community College for the schools in Berlin, Littleton, Conway and Woodsville. The campus in Concord would continue to be called New Hampshire Technical Institute.
