Supreme Court Chief Justice John Broderick says New Hampshire’s judicial system has tried to do more with less, but not very successfully.

Broderick told House budget writers yesterday he is not tone deaf to the fiscal crisis the state is facing. But he warned that if lawmakers don’t deal with the judicial system’s needs, a time will come when the courts won’t attract the best and brightest. He said when that happens, people will lose confidence in the judicial system.

Broderick says by the end of next month, the judicial system will have 43 vacancies overall.
