New Hampshire officials are scrambling back to their drawing boards now that they’ve gotten their first glimpse of Congress’s proposed stimulus package.

Some New Hampshire officials say they were surprised to see that most of the money will be allocated through specific, targeted programs. Colin Manning, spokesman for Governor John Lynch, says agencies have been asked to go back and review their projects to see if they’re eligible in other categories.

Manning says New Hampshire’s emphasis remains on highway and bridge construction projects for which design and engineering work has already been done. Earlier this month, Sen. Judd Gregg predicted the state could receive about $300 million.
