Vermont is one of a few states that are beginning to analyze the economy by looking at the human and environmental impacts of spending decisions. It’s a measurement system known as the Genuine Progress Indicator. The GPI is meant to supplement traditional metrics of economic growth, such as the gross domestic product. Democrats in the Vermont Senate have picked John Campbell to continue serving as the Senate President in the upcoming legislative session. A jury has found six Massachusetts women guilty of trespassing at the Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant last year to protest the continued operation of the reactor.
