The election may be over but the political jostling at the Statehouse is heating up, with Independent Paul Poirier of Barre challenging House Speaker Shap Smith, a Democrat from Morristown. The Vermont court system will need to ask the legislature for more money to update the court’s computer system. A top aide to Governor Peter Shumlin says lackluster state revenues show Vermont is experiencing "a slowly recovering economy." Employees at the Brattleboro Food Co-op are voting today on whether to form a union.
