Lawmakers are considering a bill designed to make it easier for people to collect life insurance benefits when a policyholder dies. The issue came up after audits found millions of dollars in unpaid claims. The Senate Transportation Committee expects to recommend a bill as early as today that would grant driver identification cards to Vermont residents who are in the country illegally. And committee members say they’re preparing to take a lot of heat for the bill. New Hampshire’s House is weighing whether to block the state from expanding Medicaid under the federal health care law. A Vermont nonprofit housing group has taken down an online video ad after criticisms that it played on stereotypes of people from India.
