Farmers, ski resort executives and others are set to testify to Vermont lawmakers about their concerns over the changing climate. Environmental groups say any effort to ship tar sands oil through a northern Vermont pipeline should be subject to the state’s land use review. The pipeline company has insisted it has no current plans to reverse the flow of an existing line to carry the heavy fuel across northern New England. But, the company says it is studying future options for its pipeline. Vermont Works for Women is marking its 25 year. The organization serves 900 adult and young women a year, helping create livable wage jobs. Mostly, they’ve helped women break into trades like carpentry, plumbing and construction.
