This afternoon state lawmakers will debate a series of amendments to a bill that would give terminally ill patients with six months or less to live the right to request lethal medication to end their lives. The state of Vermont is encouraging towns to bring their land use plans in line with regional plans. Following a month-long amnesty period in March, police in Bennington plan to step up efforts to collect about $150,000 owed to the town in more than 5,500 unpaid parking tickets and late fees.
