The Shumlin administration was hoping to demolish more than 20 buildings in the state office complex in Waterbury that suffered extensive damage from Tropical Storm Irene. A standing-room-only crowd of about 140 Vermonters packed into the Shelburne Town Hall last night to hear the two Democratic candidates for Vermont attorney gener­al debate the issues. The city of Burlington has closed North Beach again after elevated levels of E. coli were found in the lake following Sunday’s heavy rain. As the one-year anniversary of Tropical Storm Irene approaches, Governor Peter Shumlin says the state will mark the occasion with a celebration in Randolph.
