Vermont’s Long Term Disaster Relief Fund has passed the two million dollar mark in the amount of money distributed to victims of Tropical Storm Irene. But fund organizers say they’re still short of the money required to meet the ongoing demand for assistance. A University of Vermont student has been charged with starting a fire in the hallway of a dormitory over the weekend. Vermont’s two leading candidates for governor continue to squabble over how much time off they’ve taken. Lieutenant Governor Phil Scott serves in Governor Peter Shumlin’s cabinet, but the two men differ on some of the key issues facing the state. A seemingly routine school-wide assembly turned into the surprise of a lifetime for Champlain Elementary School fourth- and fifth-grade teacher Matthew Hajdun yesterday.
