It’s possible that Vermont consumers could be paying the state sales tax on Internet purchases in the not too distant future. That’s because Congressman Peter Welch is working to include this plan in a massive fiscal compromise bill that Congress is expected to consider in the coming weeks. VPR’s Bob Kinzel reports. The Norwich Police Department will be borrowing cruisers from other departments after the town’s three squad cars burned early Thanksgiving morning. The former finance director of Specialty Filaments Incorporated has been sentenced to four months of home confinement and placed on probation for three years for his part in federal fraud case. Trial is set for today in Vermont Superior Court in Brattleboro for six Massachusetts women charged with chaining themselves to Vermont Yankee last year in protest of the plant’s continued operation.
