Days after the school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut educators across Vermont are reassuring families that they’ve put plans in place to handle emergencies. The state’s largest school district is hoping to learn from the tragedy that left 20 children and 7 teachers dead. A legislative study committee has recommended that lawmakers oppose taxing computer software that’s accessed over the Internet. The debate over the tax on "cloud" computing will likely continue when the Legislature returns in January. Senator Patrick Leahy is now third in the line of presidential succession.
