Vermont’s 2012 gubernatorial campaign got under way in earnest Wednesday when Peter Shumlin and Randy Brock debated for the first time. The two men clashed on many issues, but their biggest differences came on health care. The State Police should continue to lead Vermont’s search and rescue efforts, but the system needs to be reorganized. That was the message heard yesterday by members of a committee looking into improving how search and rescue operations are conducted. And a 14-year-old girl who was reported missing in Alburgh shortly after noon yesterday has been found unharmed.
