The Nuclear Regulatory Commission says the Vermont Yankee plant is doing a good job overall in protecting public health and safety. Governor Peter Shumlin is expressing doubt about whether Vermont should pass a bill requiring special labeling for food that’s genetically modified or contains genetically modified ingredients. Town Meeting Day results show that 220 local school budgets were adopted and 16 were defeated – that’s close to the state average for the past 10 years. After an upgrade, faster trains are about to start running along the Connecticut River south of White River Junction.
