Violent storms that came through the region last night caused widespread power outages, street flooding and a number of downed trees. The U.S. Congress has extended FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program another five years. In the process, it’s made changes that could have an impact on thousands of Vermonters enrolled in the program. Senator Bernie Sanders is calling for a federal investigation into why gas prices are higher in Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle counties than elsewhere in Vermont or New England.
