Like some other small dams in Vermont, the dam on Lake Fairlee is old and in need of repair.  It’s privately owned, but a three-town committee has been exploring ways to repair or replace it. In a dramatic turn of events, the House Health Care committee has voted to support a bill that would help the state implement a new health care exchange in January. Last Friday, the bill was declared "dead" for the session. The legislation also includes a tax on sugar sweetened beverages.
