State police say announced several arrests last week in a case involving the theft of more than two-hundred-thousand dollars worth of coins from an Alburgh home. Authorities say the arrests were the result of a recent law intended to help them track down stolen jewelry. But they say some of the area’s cash for gold dealers are ignoring the law and making it easy for thieves to sell stolen jewelry. A busload of Vermont lawmakers will head north this week for a tour of economic development projects in the Newport and Jay areas.
