Vermont cities and towns have been borrowing money at a swift pace in the year since Tropical Storm Irene. Vermont’s state treasurer defends the increase in municipal bonds. The Vermont Health Department is joining the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in urging anyone born between 1945 and 1965 get tested for hepatitis C. Police are targeting drunk and aggressive drivers as we approach Labor Day weekend. Governor Peter Shumlin is marking the anniversary of Tropical Storm Irene with a four-day tour of towns hurt by flooding from the storm. Classes are getting underway in many schools around the state this week. While some Vermont school districts started classes last week – and others will not convene until after Labor Day – many are welcoming students back today.
