Librarians across Vermont are dismayed by news that the entire library staff at the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum has been laid off. The library is strapped for cash and its Board of Directors wants to restructure services. But, a new advocacy group strongly opposes the decision. Six of the eleven committees of the Vermont Senate are getting new chairs. South Burlington’s school board plans to continue its fight against a proposed methadone clinic for heroin and prescription drug addicts near two of the city’s schools.
