Governor Peter Shumlin and law enforcement officials say Vermont is in a race to ban designer drugs and their chemical cousins before they kill more people. Authorities say a Vermont farmer angry over a recent arrest used a large tractor similar in size to a monster truck to destroy seven police cruisers parked outside a sheriff’s office. Brigadier General Thomas Drew is set to take command of the Vermont National Guard this morning.
