Newell Races In Men’s Cross Country Relay

At the Olympic yesterday, Shaftsbury’s Andy Newell taking part in the men’s cross country 4 by 10 kilometer relay. But it was a disappointing run for the American team, they came in 13th, that’s next to last place. Sweden won relay after Marcus Hellner pulled away on the last leg for his second gold medal of the Olympics.

The women’s 4 by 5 relay will take place today. Caitlin Compton, formerly of Warren will be skiing on the U.S. team.

Also in action today, Vermontville, New York’s Billy Demong taking part in the Nordic combined’s individual large hill and 10k race. That’s a ski jump followed by a cross country race. Demong and his team took silver earlier this week in the team event.
