Officials in Manchester are making plans for a new visitors center to welcome tourists to the area.

The board of directors of the Manchester and the Mountains Regional Chamber of Commerce has approved a plan for the center at the site of the Yves Delorme barn.

Chamber officials will go before the town Development Review Board on Aug. 17 with their plan for a $190,000 project to replace the existing center on Main Street, which gets about 1,500 visitors annually.

Executive director of the Chamber of Commerce, says a new center will help visitors to Manchester get a better sense of what’s going on around them and that can help extend their stays.
