A new online map shows that Vermont produces the least amount of greenhouse gases of any state in the country.

The state of Texas produces the most.

The Carbon Monitoring for Action database proclaims itself as "the world’s best place for power-plant voyeurism.”

The database provides maps, color-coded categories and detailed information about who is putting 10 billion tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere annually from power plants around the world. About a quarter of the worldwide total comes from the United States.

The Web site also shows the facilities that release little if any carbon.

The map shows that Texas power plants account for 290-million tons of carbon dioxide while Vermont produces 437-thousand tons.
