Some New Hampshire lawmakers are looking to follow their Vermont colleagues’ league in providing emergency aid to dairy farmers.

Vermont has agreed to provide $3 million dollars to help farmers hurt by low milk prices and high feed and energy costs.

There now are three bills pending in the New Hampshire Legislature that would provide cash assistance to farmers.

Two would create a fund that would be tapped to support farmers if prices dipped below established limits.

The third bill would require distributors to pay farmers at least half the retail price of milk.
