Neighbors worry Bennington airport will expand

Neighbors of the William H. Morse State Airport in Bennington are concerned the state might expand the runways there.

The Vermont Agency of Transportation has made offers to buy three vacant lots near the airport. Some neighbors have interpreted the move as a prelude to lengthening the runway. They fear an expansion would lower property values near the airport.

One official who works at the Bennington Airport says the state is trying to protect the approach to the airport from being developed.
