Forget baseball and spring flowers. The nation’s ski resorts are all about skiing and snowboarding even as April begins.

A bountiful winter may lead to a record-setting season for the $6 billion industry this year. A year ago, resorts posted a 7 percent drop in visitors nationwide because of a fickle winter.

Michael Berry who is president of the National Ski Areas Association says it’s one of those rare years where it’s been winter from coast to coast for resorts of all sizes.

Berry says he’s hoping for a record in skier visits this year. The industry record is nearly 59 million which was set in 2005-to-2006. A skier visit is an industry measure representing the sale and use of one lift ticket per day.
