The selection of New Hampshire’s primary date is temporarily on hold as Michigan sorts out a legal challenge.

The delay could make a December date less likely for the Granite State’s primary. More and more campaigns expect the vote to come on January 8th.

Secretary of State William Gardner told the Associated Press he’s waiting for a resolution of the situation in Michigan.

A Michigan court ruled Wednesday that a law setting the state’s primary on January 15th was unconstitutional because it prevents public access to some information related to primary voting records. The ruling could be appealed or the Legislature could change the law, and some Michigan officials say the setback is minor.
