Multiple accidents on Interstate 89

Vermont State Police are advising motorists against traveling on Interstate 89. Troopers say there have been a series of accidents on the highway from Northfield to the Canadian border, a distance of at least 85 miles.

It’s because of blowing snow that’s collecting on the road. Highway crews say it’s too cold for road salt to melt the ice and snow, and so it’s treacherous on the highways.

State police say they’re discouraging all but necessary driving on the interstate until it can be cleaned up.
