(Host) A 22-year old Marine from Danville was killed Friday during combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
VPR’s Charlotte Albright reports.
(Albright) Ian Muller joined the Marine Corps in December 2007 and was promoted to corporal in June, 2010.
He won many commendations, including the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.
In the words of his grief-stricken mother, Susanne, he was a hero:
But Muller’s family is still trying to cope with their grief, and asks that the media give them time to do that.
Meanwhile, Vermont governor Peter Shumlin and the Congressional delegation are sending out emails consoling the family for their loss and thanking them for their son’s ultimate sacrifice.
