Mount Snow To Pay $95,000 For Waste Violations

The Vermont Attorney General’s office says Mount Snow Resort has agreed to pay the state $95,000 to settle claims that it violated hazardous waste handling rules.

Vermont Attorney General William Sorrell called improper handling and mismanagement of hazardous materials "serious matters" but added that the ski area has made efforts to address the problems.

The violations were discovered by the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources in 2008.

Officials say Mount Snow had disposed of hazardous waste through evaporation and without certification and violated waste storage rules and lacked emergency preparedness and annual training for employees.
